GlaxoSmithKline, one of the world's leading research-based pharmaceutical and healthcare companies, will honor 10 Philadelphia-area healthcare nonprofit recipients of the GlaxoSmithKline 12th Annual IMPACT Awards on Tuesday, March 17 in Philadelphia. Each nonprofit will receive a $40,000 award for providing access to community healthcare services.
The following area nonprofits will be honored at the ceremony: the Breastfeeding Resource Center (Montgomery County); Casa Guadalupe Center (Lehigh County); Co-County Wellness Services (Berks County); ElderNet of Lower Merion and Narberth (Montgomery County); Family and Community Service of Delaware County; Libertae, Inc. (Bucks County); Public Citizens for Children and Youth (Philadelphia); Resources for Children’s Health (Philadelphia); St. Catherine LabourĂ© Medical Clinic (Philadelphia); and Southeast Asian Mutual Assistance Associations Coalition (Philadelphia).
According to Mary Linda Andrews, GlaxoSmithKline Director, Community Partnerships, “All of the GlaxoSmithKline 12th Annual IMPACT Award winners are committed to the idea that everyone should have better access to healthcare and that no one should fall through the cracks. These organizations are on the front lines as change agents, working to build stronger and healthier and communities. They are all deeply committed to their work and clients.”
About the GlaxoSmithKline IMPACT Awards: To qualify for a GlaxoSmithKline IMPACT Award, applicants must provide access to community healthcare services (primary mission) in the Pennsylvania counties of Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Lehigh, Montgomery or Philadelphia; have a total annual operating budget of less than $2.5 million; and have been in existence as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization for at least five years. A panel of local and national healthcare delivery experts and GlaxoSmithKline representatives determined the winners based on a strong demonstration of ongoing success in providing access to healthcare; commitment to serving people in need; facilitation of healthcare delivery, education, creative partnerships and policy development; and a solid record of achievement, management and leadership.
