Michael A. Nutter is a lifetime Philadelphian, with an accomplished career of public service, business and financial administration. Mayor Nutter served as a City Councilman for nearly 15 years representing Philadelphia’s Fourth District. He has also served as Democratic Ward Leader of the 52nd Ward since 1990.
During his time in Council, Mayor Nutter worked to lower taxes for Philadelphians. He engineered groundbreaking ethics reform legislation, and led efforts to pass a citywide smoking ban, among countless economic and legislative measures to improve the quality of life for people and businesses in the 4th District and citywide.
From 2003 to 2007, Mayor Nutter served as Chairman of the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority Board. He serves on the Board of City Trusts, managing the City’s charitable assets, supporting institutions such as Girard College and Wills Eye Hospital, as well as administering public school scholarship funds.

Furia Rubel Wins Awards for Public Relations Service
The results of a first-of-its-kind Top Corporate Givers in Greater Philadelphia list were debuted on April 30, 2008 which included Furia Rubel among the top 60. I cannot begin to tell you how proud I am because this is a true testiment to the core values of every member of the Furia Rubel Team.
At the summit we heard an inspiring keynote by Joe Banner, President and COO of the Philadelphia Eagles and Co-chair of the Philadelphia City Year Board. Banner invited a local City Year man on stage who share his awe-inspiring story of being a drug dealer turned community activist, volunteer and college student. There wasn't a dry eye in the place.

Put this New Promotional Web Tool to Good Use
In a recent PR Week article, Web tools enhance promotions for in-person campaign, Marc Longpre highlights a fabulous promotional web tool, Zvents. The new web tool helps corporations and organizations promote and market their events by:
- Organizing and localizing an event’s information
- Improving links on search engines like Google
- Increasing an organization’s ability to find niche audiences
Zvents increases a business’ ability to target specific audiences by featuring a database and search tool for events around the country. Ultimately, the site gives promoters more control over how the event is promoted which is always a challenge for PR professionals.

Originally uploaded by FuriaRubel.
On Friday night, May 4, 2007, I had the honor of working with First Friday Doylestown to help pay tribute to two young men from our town who died while fighting for our freedom in Iraq. Marine Lt. Travis Manion and Army Ranger Colby Umbrell were remebered at a town vigil. Hundreds of residents came out to pay their respects to the two families who have lost their sons. The Intelligencer covered the story at http://www.phillyburbs.com/pb-dyn/news/113-05062007-1342060.html.
My heart goes out to the families. My husband said it best, "I never want to walk a day in their shoes but if we do, I pray that we can be as graceful and dignified as the Manion and Umbrell families." I couldn't agree more. God bless them and God bless America!
